Services We Provide

The Kirkland Pre-Career Tutors are excited to get to know you and support you. We want to work with you to discover how to apply your skills and interests to a variety of fields. We volunteered for this position for different reasons: we have been inspired by our mentors, we have had good and bad experiences we hope you can learn from, or simply because we enjoy helping college students. Specifically, we are happy to:
  • Listen to what’s important to you
  • Help you start a job search or explore your interests
  • Conduct mock interviews
  • Review your resume and provide feedback
  • Review your writing samples and provide feedback
  • Introduce you to colleagues, professors, or firms we know
  • Help you apply to MBA or doctoral programs in business
  • Direct you to other resources on and off campus
We are here to assist you -- it’s our job! Please let us know how we can help and how we’re doing.

Tutors

We want to get to know you, even if you don’t have specific questions. Feel free to send us an email, talk with us during house events, or sit with us in the Kirkland dining hall. Please check the Kirkland calendar for information about nights we’ll be in the dining hall.

Advising Areas: Technology, Consulting

Having lived in India, Singapore, and Germany, I am happy to share my thoughts on potential international opportunities that you're evaluating. Also, being a computer science engineer and having worked for Amazon.com, I can shed some light on working in technology firms on the west coast. Most recently I worked for BCG and if you're evaluating management consulting as a career option, do shoot me an email. I love questioning and probing your career leanings so if you're in the mood for an exploratory discussion full of questions and brainstorming -- let's meet for lunch!

Advising Areas: Consulting, doctoral programs

I am a doctoral student in Management at Harvard Business School and a resident tutor in I-entryway with Kyle Satterstrom. Last year was my first year as a resident tutor, and it was great! I enjoyed meeting many of you in the dining hall, in the entryway, and on the Kirkland women’s boat. I look forward to talking about careers, courses, or whatever is on your mind.

I lived in Bogotá, Colombia and the Bronx, NY before coming to Harvard where I was a Psychology concentrator. As an undergraduate, I enjoyed studying people and teams, doing research abroad, and training with the Harvard Taekwondo Team. Many of my best memories were in the dining hall and studying or conducting research in Germany, Colombia, and Kenya. After graduating in 2004, I studied and worked in Seoul, Korea, for a year on a Harvard Yenching Fellowship. I returned to Harvard to TF Positive Psychology and Leadership Psychology. I have also worked as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, as an intern with Insight Partners, a conflict management firm, and as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School. I am currently very interested in teams, creativity, decision making, sailing, and Korean food.

As your resident Pre-Career Tutor, I am happy to help with resumes, mock interviews, doctoral applications, or anything else on your mind. I'm around and look forward to getting to know you.

Advising Area: Medicine, Consulting, Retail

Hi Kirkland House! I'm very excited to be one of your Pre-Career tutors this year. I graduated from neighboring Eliot House in 2006 with a degree in Biology; while at school, I was in involved in HSA, Let's Go, and RCS. I then worked at BCG for 2 years, concentrating mainly in healthcare and financial services, and I am now starting my second and last year at Harvard Business School. I'd be happy to chat with you about any of the concerns or questions you have about consulting, business school, or even the retail industry (I worked with a fashion designer this summer), so please just get in touch! I look forward to meeting a lot of you this year.

Advising Area: Media, Arts, Consulting

Angela is a second year HBS student. Since her days as an undergrad at Harvard, she has lived in New York, Shanghai, and Los Angeles, but she is still a Jersey girl at heart. After stints with NBC Universal, the Travel Channel, and the Los Angeles Film Festival, she decided to make some use of her economics degree at a media & entertainment strategy consulting practice. While building market models was quite the departure from wrangling VIPs at Saturday Night Live, she nonetheless found herself bemused and challenged in the world of business. Still interested in the arts, she remains an active member of Harvardwood's board of directors. Thus, in addition to sharing her love of salsa dancing and beach volleyball, she is more than happy to chat about any (or none) of her random experiences while enjoying delicious foods (though it should be known that gifts in the form of dark chocolate are always heartily accepted as thanks for well-dispensed advice).

Advising: Finance

I work at financial services firm Goldman Sachs, in the Private Wealth Management business. Prior to this, I worked in Derivative and Equity businesses at JP Morgan. I have worked in global financial centers including New York and London. My first exposure to finance was as a student reading Computer Science & Business Studies at the University of Warwick, England. I have incorporated education and training into my career from the outset, and particularly enjoy business mentoring and giving career talks.

Outside of work, I have acted as a consultant to American and British NGOs. Other interests include skiing and travelling.

I look forward to meeting the Kirkland House students!
