Basic Information about Hicks House

Hicks House currently has almost 12,000 books, most of which can be found in Harvard's online catalog, HOLLIS. The library also holds a general reference collection, the Kirkland House archives, some random DVDs, an LP collection, course packs, and several popular magazines. The building itself dates to the 1700s and is one of the oldest buildings in Cambridge. It has nine rooms on the main three floors and an extensive basement, which includes a vault and additional study space.

The warm, cozy, and sometimes soporific library is restricted to members of the house. Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the library.

Library Hours

The library will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via swipe-card access.

Print Rentals

Hicks House owns several framed prints that are available for rental each year ($5 for one semester, $10 for the academic year).  If you are interested in renting, please come by the library on Saturday, September 19, 2:00-4:00pm.
